Every summer of my childhood was spent in the South of France, returning to the familiar rhythm of family, tradition and togetherness.

My mother is one of eight children, so summer meant one thing: our family coming together.

Our days unfolded along the shores of the Mediterranean, skipping smooth stones across the water, listening to the gentle rhythm of the waves and lingering until the sun dipped low over the sea. There was never any need to ask where everyone was—the scent of my grandmother’s paella would drift through the warm air, rich with saffron, garlic, olive oil and fresh seafood, quietly calling us home.

One by one, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents would gather around a long table. Plates were passed, glasses were raised, stories flowed as effortlessly as the wine and laughter carried into the evening.

It was never simply dinner. It was belonging. It was tradition. It was love.

The name rèunion is inspired by the French word for “a gathering”—a coming together. For our family, it wasn’t simply a word. It was a way of life.

rèunion was born from those summers.

We are a local, family-owned Mar Vista business and the founders of The Venice Fest, a series of free community events that brings thousands of people together through music, art, local businesses and shared experiences.

After years of creating large-scale celebrations for our community, we were inspired to open a permanent home where that same spirit of connection could continue in a more intimate way.

More than an event venue, rèunion is a place for connection in all its forms: morning movement, creative workshops, meaningful conversations, private celebrations, shared meals and unexpected new friendships.

We created rèunion to evoke the warmth, beauty and sense of belonging I remember from those summers—a place where every gathering feels personal, every detail has intention and every guest feels at home.

Because the most unforgettable moments are rarely about the occasion itself. They’re about the people beside us, the stories we share and the feeling that, somehow, we’ve found our way home.
